How Electromagnetic Pollution Maybe Detrimental To Your Fertility
Electromagnetic fields and radiation are created both naturally and as the result of man made electricity. They are a combination of electricity created by voltage and a magnetic field created by flow or current. The human body has evolved to resonate and harmonize with the electromagnetic fields of the earth and the sun.
However, since the advent of man made electricity and the rapid growth of technology we are experiencing today, we are living in a sea of electronic pollution. Hence, we are now resonating less with the earth and sun and more with our appliances!
Numerous research demonstrates that chronic exposure to man made electromagnetic fields and radiation can lead to changes in the normal growth pattern of cells and damage the cells DNA. When you consider that the egg and sperm are in actual fact one type of cell in the body and an embryo is a bundle of rapidly dividing cells; we can not ignore the potential detrimental effect that pollution may have on our fertility and health.
Sperm cells are very vulnerable to damage by radiation. For instance studies conducted at Cleavland Clinic, Ohio, exposed semen to mobile phone radiation frequency at a distance of 2-5cm [typical distance between the testes and pants pocket]. They found there was an increase in damaging free radicals leading to lower sperm motility [ability to swim] and a reduced percentage of live sperm. In another study conducted on male sperm donors, it was found that those men who had the greatest daily level of electromagnetic exposure, had an two fold increase risk of abnormal sperm motility and morphology [shape].
In experiments carried out on female rats, it was found that exposure to electromagnetic radiation had a damaging effect on the rat's; ovary follicles, uterus lining and decreased the amount of cilia in their fallopian tubes. Cilia are hair like structures which help move the fertilized egg to the uterus.
Melatonin, which is a hormone that increases at night in response to darkness is important for the immune system and reproductive hormones. For instance it was found that sheep who naturally only breed once a year, could be induced to breed twice a year, when given melatonin injections. Production and secretion of melatonin during the night, will be disrupted by electromagnetic frequencies and radiation.
In a study of pregnant women it was found that the women who used microwave producing devices during their pregnancy, had a 47.7% miscarriage rate compared to 14.5% of the non exposed women.

Basically, anything that plugs in and is switched on, as well as technology that communicates over distance, will emit electronic pollution and non-ionizing radiation. Some examples are:

[Geovital Academy has 30 years of international experience in home assessments and the provision of practical solutions to reduce or eliminate electronic pollution in the home].
Sources Of Electronic Pollution
Basically, anything that plugs in and is switched on, as well as technology that communicates over distance, will emit electronic pollution and non-ionizing radiation. Some examples are:
- Televisions
- Smart meters
- Computers
- Microwave ovens
- Refrigerators
- Mobile and cordless phones
- Mobile phone towers
- Electric blankets and water beds
- Electric fans
- Hairdryers
- Home wiring and fuse boxes
- Electric alarm clocks
- Baby monitors
- Wifi
Ways To Minimize Your Exposure To Electronic Pollution
- Switch off and unplug electrical appliances when not in use.
- Switch off your mobile phone when not in use and keep away from your body as much as you can. Gentleman, please keep them out of your pants pocket.
- Avoid using your laptop computer on your lap.
- Whenever possible use appliances which run on battery as they emit less radiation than when they are plugged into a power point.
- Avoid using microwave ovens.
- Set your office up so that when siting at your desk, you are not exposed to the side and back of your electrical equipment [where the electromagnetic radiation emissions are higher].
- Have your home assessed for electronic pollution levels and, where needed, appropriately update/shield against electronic pollution. For more information on home assessments for electronic pollution and practical shielding solutions visit www.geovital.com.au
